We Love Magnesium!
Magnesium hugely supports our health. Your body’s magnesium levels affect energy, hormones, stress, muscles, and mood! Many of us might just associate magnesium with cramps and sleep, but what if we told you magnesium was doing so much more for you! At the cellular level, this powerful mineral drives important daily functions, from your heartbeat to cell repair.
Magnesium is what activates ATP (the molecule your cells use for energy). Without magnesium, cells cant use ATP, and without ATP your body wont have energy, so more mag=more energy!
Inside your cells, magnesium helps regulate your calcium, potassium and sodium. These are the minerals that help steady your heart beat and relax your muscles, keeping you calm. (Fun Fact! When we want to stop women from going into labor, we put them on high dose IV drips! Thats how powerful Magnesium is in relaxing our muscles.) This also makes magnesium a really powerful mood stabilizer! That nasty anxious feeling we all get after a couple too many glasses of wine with the girls? That anxiety is due to the depletion of many important mood stabilizing minerals in your body, Magnesium being one of them. So do we shy away from a good time because of this? N O! We encourage a balanced style of living, and having a healthy social life is key! We reccomend incoorporating magnesium rich foods into your diet, or supplementing magnesium to balance out those fun nights making memories.
On top of all that, magnesium also balances our hormones. From PMS to Menopause, mag influences how our cells respond to estrogen, progesterone and cortisol (the stress hormone). It plays a big role in the production of serotonin, which is the “feel good” chemical in our brains. So next time you reach for the Midol, think about reaching for Magnesium!
When you sleep, magnesium goes into overdrive, helping your cells relax and enhancing the restorative properties of your body! Your sleep is when your body balances its hormones, detoxifies itself, and regenerates new muscle; this all happens with the help of magnesium!
So heres the bottom line- magnesium is not just another supplement, its like self care for your cells. From energy to calm, from metabolism to mood, this mineral works quietly behind the scenes to keep your body balanced and resilient.
If you’re feeling tired, stressed, or just “off,” your cells might be whispering for more magnesium.
As always, wishing you the best health
